The short version

9 July 1947: Born in Oakland, California, USA
Grade school: Gregory Gardens, Pleasant Hill, California
High school: Pioneer, San Jose, California
College: San Jose State College

1967: Married Norma Dann, a local girl I met at college and pursued when we both worked at the Post Office. Son, Aaron, born. His arrival excluded me from the Vietnam draft lottery. Divorced.

1970: Moved to Woodstock, New York, USA
Voyage of discovery.

1973: Moved to Boston, Massachusetts, USA
Began career path in advertising.

1979: Married Joanna Acaster, an English girl I met while working on a freelance job. Remain happily married.

1983: Moved to the United Kingdom; settled in Edinburgh, Scotland, when a job was offered.

1986: Moved to London, England, to further career in advertising. Various periods of full-time employment and freelance ensued, depending on the state of the economy.

1999: Began a period of freelance work for SAS International in Heidelberg, Germany. A routine developed, whereby I would live in Heidelberg for two weeks, then in London for two weeks.

2001: Heidelberg gig comes to an end. Take advantage of free time to learn Web design. Two commissions to date.

15 July 2001: Became a British citizen. May now complain about the beer. Dual national.

15 December 2001 to present: Mainly working for easyFairs, Brussels – time & cost-effective trade shows; Mall Galleries, London; Character Games Ltd, New Malden. Still take every opportunity to hop on my motorcycle and tour Europe with Joanna.

August 2006: Diagnosed with type-2 diabetes.

18 January 2007: A transient ischaemic attack had me in the King's College stroke unit for 30 hours observation. I was very lucky, but can't beat the computer at chess anymore.

7 November 2007: Underwent a 2 1/2 hour, five-stent, two-artery angioplasty. I watched the monitor while they rooted about in my heart. Amazing. Further by-pass surgery not ruled out.

Present: Still working when it's offered, but growing my hair and taking things easy.
